It can be used as a standalone vacuum pump and as a standalone oil pump.

The oil serves as a dielectric material and as an effective coolant in the transformer, to perform these functions effectively the transformer oil must be cleaned regularly. The insulating fluid must have certain necessary properties at the time of initial impregnation and filling at the plant, but must be maintained at the same level of quality during operation to ensure optimum performance.
